European Directives

ERP & Eco-Design Directives

Date:   September 2015

From the 26th September 2015 important changes will be happening across the EU with regards to all Hot Water Storage Vessels up to 2000 Litre volume sold within the European Economic Area. These changes take place according to the European Eco-Design and Energy Labelling Directives.

European Energy Labelling Directive - EU 812/2013

The European Energy Labelling Directive applies to all Hot Water Storage Vessels up to 500 Litres, sold within the European Economic Area. All Hot Water Storage Vessels ordered from GMS after 26/09/2015 that fall under this category will be supplied with the following documentation;

European Eco-Design Directive - EU 814/2013

The European Eco-Design Directive applies to all Hot Water Storage Vessels up to 2000 Litres, sold within the European Economic Area. All Hot Water Storage Vessels ordered from GMS after 26/09/2015 that fall under this category will be supplied with the following documentation;

Recommendations

To ensure that a Hot Water Storage Vessel meets the legal requirements of these directives, we strongly recommend that GMS Hot Water Storage Vessels are bought in their complete form (i.e. with factory fitted insulation). If for any reason, the vessel is not supplied with factory fitted insulation, the installer will be responsible for "completing" the vessel by insulating the unit and meeting the requirements of both the relevant Euopean Directives.

GMS Insulation

GMS insulation is not only compliant to the 2015 tier of both the Eco-Design and Energy Labelling Directives, it is also compliant to the 2107 tiers of both directives, with energy ratings of C and above for vessels covered by the Energy Labelling Directive and heat loss values below or equal to 16.66 + 8.33 * V0.4 Watts (where V is the vessel/cylinder capacity in litres) for vessels covered by the Eco-Design Directive. For further information please refer to our Standard Heat Loss Chart.
